If you have a Catholic background (or perhaps some other liturgical denomination) you'll have got more out of that video.
But it's not really advertising a game called Mass, but the only way to find out what they are really advertising is by going to the fake website http://www.masswepray.com/# and clicking on the pre-order button.

Maybe I'm just slow... but I don't get it. Cheesy and lame 'Christian' exterior with a dark inside. Is this a statement? I don't see how it could be good advertising. Is it a slam against Catholicism or a parody of the Mormon Church?

I agree. I don't think it's a good ad. On the other hand I don't think it is a slam against Catholicism or a parody of the Mormon Church. I think it just a creative way of getting people to hear about their product.
